Do the hardest for an easier life

When we expend a little energy to achieve or accomplish something, we get back the same "little" value. But when we push the envelope and challenge ourselves to do something more difficult, to go beyond our current limits, our ROI grows exponentially. There is no better example of this than lifting weights at the gym - one of the best things we can do to shape our bodies and strengthen our muscles. What is heavy today will not be after many repetitions. To enjoy the benefits that stronger muscles give us, we need to constantly challenge ourselves by putting on more weight. There is no gain in life without some type of stretching/pain. This is called evolutionary growth and all emotional, mental and physical challenges of humans hold the greatest opportunity for growth. Instead of avoiding the "hard things," we need to see the "silver lining" hidden in the hard things and stop running away from a race we can never win.

Perceptions are the key

Changing our perceptions is the starting point. The clear answer to fear and eliminating its debilitating effects is to see challenges as opportunities for growth. Challenges cause our adrenaline and energy output to rise and increase our heart rate, but not in the same way as a "fight or flight" response. During challenges, other hormones are released, we are more focused,
and we can more easily access our mental and physical abilities. We have become weak as humans, both literally and figuratively, because we too often "take the easy way out." This explains why we are currently experiencing a global health crisis.
We want to be healthier, but it's "too hard to lift weights or take the time to go to the gym We want to be healthier, but it's too hard to give up unnecessary easy things that eat up our time We want to be healthier, but it's "too hard" to give up our destructive diets in favor of nutrient-dense foods We want to be healthier, but we do not want to take the time to cook and prepare our own meals. It's too hard, and so we opt for "fast food..."
(the only fast thing about fast food is how quickly it destroys our health). We want to be healthier, but we want it as a gift, not as something we earned through "hard work" and as a reward for an adapted lifestyle We want to be healthier without having to "exert ourselves" Easy does not push the envelope. Life is not built that way. Life is built as a reward system - a give and take. What you put in, you get out. It's really that simple. Most people miss opportunities because they are dressed in overalls and look like work. -Thomas A. Edison

When we push challenges aside and continue to choose the easy path, we send a clear message to our minds and bodies that we are content with our lot in life. Life gives us the same back and instead of pushing the door wide open to new possibilities or healing ourselves from the inside out, the process of sedentary decay begins. The naked truth is, that we are either moving in a forward direction by tackling the "hard stuff" or we are subtly moving in a negative direction by staying in our comfort zone of safety. Success in all areas is directly related to sacrifice. Sacrifice usually means giving up something to get something else.
The "good" we all seek in life is cleverly packaged in a willingness to tackle the "hard things" instead of struggling through the easy ones. Our current state of health is the perfect example and reason to tackle the "hard things." It's time we trade in our false illusions of the "easy way" to get healthy for real, growth-enhancing "hard solutions,"

because we can not fully recover from any health crisis, personal or global, until we address the root causes. If we do not focus on and address the original causes, it's only a matter of time before another global health catastrophe emerges, cleverly disguised as "another virus or disease"
